Small logo ads banned from TV

The China Daily reports that the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has banned small sponsored logos and graphics placed in a corner of the screen during many TV programs.

In addition, SARFT announced a clamp-down on ads for health products:

Advertisements for medical treatment, health products and other goods or services related to public health need to be submitted for checks and even shutdown if the content contravenes relevant regulations.

Because of this health department notice, TV stations will have to suspend medical treatment adverts for certain illnesses such as venereal diseases, psoriasis, HIV/AIDS, cancer, falling sickness and vertigo.

Recently there have been some adverts guilty of exaggerating the effectiveness of products whilst others have completely failed to follow advertising laws.
