The top headline of today’s Beijing Times announces that the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau will give 230,000 low-income citizens 20 yuan per month starting next month. The temporary subsidy, a reaction to climbing inflation, will last five months.
The front page picture shows a marine rescue in the South China Sea. According to article, all 21 crewmembers on board were saved.

• All small and mid-sized Chinese restaurants in Beijing will be required to have their used tableware sterilized by companies set up for the purpose. This is expected to add 1 yuan per table to the cost of a meal.
• The Summer Palace, Jiangshan Park, and other crowded scenic areas will have their traffic restricted during Golden Week, the National Day holiday at the beginning of October.
• The principal maker of the computer virus Xiaomao Shaoxiang was sentenced to 4 years in prison yesterday. His three associates recieved terms of 2 1/2 years, two years, and one year.
