The simplified Chinese characters used on the Mainland are often bemoaned because the simplification process got rid of the ‘heart’ in love. This is ‘xin’, the character meaning heart:

Note the little ‘heart’ in the middle of the character. But now have a look at the simplified character for love:
No heart! But now New Weekly (xin zhoukan) celebrates Valentines Day with an issue devoted to love, and their foxy designers have put the heart back into love:
Unfortunately, the magazine’s report on love in China does not really have a heart. Neither does the cover story in the previous issue of New Weekly, called ‘What’s your name gorgeous? A century of chasing beautiful women’.
