
Australian authors Joan London and Doris Pilkington are visiting China for the Beijing Book Fair (September 1-5) and will be giving talks in Shanghai and Beijing.
Doris Pilkington is the author of Rabbit-Proof Fence, the true adventure story of three young Aboriginal girls who escaped incarceration and followed the rabbit-proof fence back to their homelands. One of the girls was Pilkington’s mother. The Chinese version of the book will be published in September 2005.
Joan London is one of Australia’s most esteemed authors. Her two collections of stories, Sister Ships and Letter to Constantine, have won national and state awards, while her first novel, Gilgamesh, was short listed for the Miles Franklin Literary Award in 2002 and won the Age Book of the Year for Fiction in 2002.
