1. An exhibition focussing on the Nanjing Massacre started yesterday at China’s National Museum. The exhibition commemorates China’s victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression as part of the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. Japanese invading troops occupied Nanjing on December 13, 1937, and launched a six-week massacre, killing more than 300,000 Chinese people.
2. A public hearing will be held on August 14 to decide the new draft regulations to loosen a 12-year ban on firecrackers in Beijing (Currently, firecrackers can only be used outside of the fifth ring road).
3. China’s central bank specifies currency basket which consists of the US dollars, Euro, Japanese Yen and Won of the Republic of Korea.
4. 75% of high school graduate students in Beijing enrolled by universities this year.
