This morning a crowd of about 150 Chinese fans, gathered in front of the Kunlun Hotel to greet the stars of Real Madrid coming into town. Many girls were holding posters of Beckham and handwritten messages of love dedicated to the British footballer (see pop-up photo).
On Saturday 23rd, Real Madrid will face Beijing Hyundai in a friendly match at the Workers Stadium. According to an article posted on Qianlong.com, the Spanish team will cash in USD2,4 million for the match. For an open training session scheduled in Tianjing on the 22nd of July, the ‘galacticos’ will pocket USD600,000. The article also points out that, together with other deals and endorsements to be signed in Beijing, the Spanish team will earn a total of USD4,8 million. That’s around USD1,2 million a day for their 4-day trip to the Chinese capital.
