Being the law abiding, straitlaced individual that you are, you may have not noticed that between June 20 and July 3, the Beijing Vice Squad clamped down on hundreds of fine entertainment venues in the city. According to today’s Legal Mirror, 700 venues with problems (有问题的) were either fined or shut down after several types of irregular activities were discovered by the cops. To be specific, ‘entertainment venues’ included karaoke parlours, saunas, video arcades and hair salons. Irregular activities included prostitution, escort services, drug use and dealing, and operations outside the range of services fixed in the venues’ business licences.
Can’t you tell that today Beijing is a better, cleaner city?
