Another entry for the list of things that should never have been remade: Whoopi Goldberg’s Sister Act, adapted for the stage by Taiwan’s Godot Theater Company as Running Angel 《跑路救天使》, is coming to Beijing and Shanghai in September.

As in the film version, familiar pop hits by artists like Faye Wong and A-Mei are given gospel arrangements and incorporated into the action. And in a nod to recent controversy, Cai Qin personally guarantees that there are no lip-synched tracks – all singing is to be done live.
