Chen Daoming can get more than 100,000 yuan per episode filming TV shows in Hong Kong. He is known to Hong Kong audiences primarily from his appearances in Infernal Affairs 3 and a few mainland soaps that have shown in HK.
Because Hong Kong producers are increasingly looking to sell their shows to stations in the mainland, there is a high demand for mainland stars who are also popular in Hong Kong. According to the director of Cable TV Hong Kong, Xu Xiaoming, speaking at the Shanghai Television Festival, mainlanders acting in Hong Kong TV serials can command fees around 1/3 higher than equivalently-classed Hong Kong actors.
Other pricey mainland stars are Jiao Huang, Zhang Guoli, Vicky Zhao, Fan Bingbing, and Tian Baoliang.
