Under the headline “成龙希望老外娶上海太太” (“Jackie Chan Wants Foreigners To Marry Shanghainese Wives”), the Shenzhen Evening News reports:
“Speaking at a forum on ‘Chinese Kung-Fu Movies’ yesterday about how the Chinese film industry could continue to attract foreign interest, Jackie Chan said: ‘If Chinese kung-fu movies are good, then foreigners will come to China to learn kung-fu, learn Chinese, eat Beijing duck, dress up in tangzhuang, marry Shanghainese girls — this is a great way to introduce Chinese culture to the rest of the world.'”
Let’s hope it happens in that order and the kung-fu studying comes first: any foreigner who regularly dresses up in tangzhuang should at least be able to defend themselves from the ass-kicking they so richly deserve.
