Now let’s turn to Beijing. Most of the images below come from Danda, which covers contemporary architecture and has plenty of information about some of the buildings that will attempt to dominate the Beijing skyline in a few years time.
This image is an artist’s rendering of the new CCTV headquarters in Beijing, due to be completed by 2008. The buildings were designed by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, a studio headed by Rem Koolhaas.
This image is a rendering of the National Stadium, also due to be completed before the Olympics. The architects are Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron.
This is the Olympic Water Cube, where the Games’ aquatic events will take place. The Cube was designed by Australian firm PTW.
This is a rendering of the Norman Foster design for Beijing Airport’s Terminal 3, also due for completion before the Olympics.
Below are several buildings designed by Baghdad-born, London-based Zaha Hadid. This is a ski jump on Bergisel Mountain, Austria.
This is the Contemporary Arts Center, in Cincinnati, designed by Zaha Hadid. The Center opened on May 31, 2003.
Zaha Hadid has just won the tender for a million square meter residential complex on the southern outskirts of Beijing, to be developed by Soho China, whom you can find here.
