African Boots of Beijing
A mid season’s tale about Afrika United FC

ABOUT THE EVENT
African Boots of Beijing is a short documentary film by Luke Mines. The documentary is a portrait of Africa United, Beijing’s amateur football (soccer) team for Africans from all over the continent.
The film follows the team through two mid-season matches, focusing on some of the personalities that have held the team together throughout its decade long history.
Africa United plays in the International Friendship League. While many of the teams in the league have sponsorships or are supported by players with good corporate jobs, Africa United suffers from a typical African problem: lack of funds.
This event is a fundraiser to help Africa United pay match fees for the rest of the season. All door fees go directly to the team.
Luke Mines shot, directed and edited the film, with additional camera work by Alessandro Spiga. The film was co-produced by Jeremy Goldkorn with the help of Standards and Danwei.
