Most newspapers in Beijing followed this template on their front pages today:
Leading headline: College students can get married without the approval from schools;
Front page photo: scenes of Indonesian earthquake disaster.
In the past, the college students who got married were forced to discontinue schooling. This regulation went against the Marriage Law of China. Now it is time to end such a situation: from September 1, college students can marry freely without risk of expulsion. According to the universities and Education Ministry, the abolishment of this regulation is not mean to encourage college students to fall in love and marry during their school term.
Xinhua has an English report about the new rules here.
