{"id":5387,"date":"2009-03-30T23:13:04","date_gmt":"2009-03-30T15:13:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danwei.webfactional.com\/?p=5387"},"modified":"2009-03-30T23:13:04","modified_gmt":"2009-03-30T15:13:04","slug":"chinas_morning_papers_urge_you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/laodanwei.org\/wp\/newspapers\/chinas_morning_papers_urge_you.php","title":{"rendered":"China&#8217;s morning papers urge you to eat breakfast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nineteen of China&#8217;s morning papers launched a campaign on Monday to encourage a healthy morning routine across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The <i>Beijing Morning Post<\/i> splashed a large photo of the launch ceremony on its front page (underneath a banner headline announcing that Beijing will be getting a &#8220;Taiwan Street&#8221; by this coming October):<\/p>\n<div class=\"imgblock\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.laodanwei.org\/assets_c\/2009\/03\/JDM090330chenbao-5610.php\" onclick=\"window.open('http:\/\/www.laodanwei.org\/assets_c\/2009\/03\/JDM090330chenbao-5610.php','popup','width=450,height=723,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"JDM090330chenbaos.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.laodanwei.org\/2009\/03\/30\/JDM090330chenbaos.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"307\" class=\"mt-image-none\" style=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"CaptionStyle\" style=\"width: 450px;\">Read, eat, and exercise every morning<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Morning papers across the country issue a &#8216;Morning Three&#8217; proposal,&#8221; reads the headline, and the three activities encouraged are morning reading, breakfast, and morning exercise. The campaign is co-sponsored by KFC, which offers a breakfast menu.<\/p>\n<p>The gimmick here is the word &#8220;morning,&#8221; \u65e9, which appears in the name of the proposal, <span title=\"s\u0101n z\u01ceo l\u01d0ni\u00e0n\" class=\"pinyin\">\u4e09\u65e9\u7406\u5ff5<\/span>, and is supposedly shared by all nineteen of the co-sponsoring newspapers. The actual terminology is a little awkward, however. Six of the papers have <span title=\"z\u01ceob\u00e0o\" class=\"pinyin\">\u65e9\u62a5<\/span> in their names, while twelve others use the synonymous <span title=\"ch\u00e9nb\u00e0o\" class=\"pinyin\">\u6668\u62a5<\/span>. One, the <i>Orient Today<\/i>, uses <span title=\"j\u012bnb\u00e0o\" class=\"pinyin\">\u4eca\u62a5<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The <i>Beijing Morning Post<\/i> article notes that the organizers are inviting other media and business organizations to participate in the effort to improve the happiness of the country&#8217;s newspaper readers, so maybe we&#8217;ll be seeing the <i>Metropolis Dailies<\/i>, the <i>Times<\/i>, and the <i>Herald Leaders<\/i> promoting the &#8220;Morning Three&#8221; in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Just as long as they keep the party-run dailies off the list.
