{"id":4633,"date":"2008-07-18T15:42:32","date_gmt":"2008-07-18T07:42:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danwei.webfactional.com\/?p=4633"},"modified":"2008-07-18T15:42:32","modified_gmt":"2008-07-18T07:42:32","slug":"japanese_and_other_asians_fifa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/laodanwei.org\/wp\/the-thomas-crampton-channel\/japanese_and_other_asians_fifa.php","title":{"rendered":"Japanese (and other Asians): FIFA more fun than Olympics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Journalist and blogger <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thomascrampton.com\">Thomas Crampton<\/a> is now posting some of his work on Danwei.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A survey just released by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mindshareworld.com\/\">Mindshare<\/a> shows Asia\u2014Japan especially\u2014is not as excited about the Olympics as China.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; For Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Australia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, the FIFA World Cup ranks more exciting than the Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Japan is the least enthusiastic about the Olympics, with 33% saying they would not watch any events live.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 38% of Japanese say they are likely to watch less of Olympics this year than in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Vietnam and Malaysia follow China in enthusiasm for the opening ceremonies, according to the below graph. Looks like Japan and Indonesia, on the other hand, won&#8217;t be staying up to watch the opening ceremony.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thomascrampton.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"olympicsmindshare.png\" src=\"http:\/\/www.laodanwei.org\/2008\/07\/18\/olympicsmindshare.png\" width=\"500\" height=\"284\" class=\"mt-image-none\" style=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>The  survey was carried  out by mConsult \u2013 MindShare\u2019s consulting division this year\u2019s first quarter. They conduct a study every quarter.
