China’s first branded domestic help company started business this year, according to the People Daily (print edition, Friday February 20). Named Chuan Mei Zi or Sichuan Little Sister, the company cooperates with a Chengdu women’s association to find and train domestic helpers, and then sell their services to households in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai.<\/p>\n
Chuan Mei Zi trains employees in various domestic skills such as looking after babies, cooking and housework, and equips each employee with a branded pink uniform.<\/p>\n
Most Chuan Mei Zi employees are unemployed workers and women from the countryside.<\/p>\n
The first group of Chuan Mei Zi to come to Beijing “performed well in the market”: 69 maids were hired in a very short time.<\/p>\n
