The new rules ban the use of Courier New 12 (the former official typeface) and insist on the use of Times New Roman 14.<\/p>\n<p>The State Department memorandum says that Times New Roman 14 &#8220;takes up almost exactly the same area on the page as Courier New 12, while offering a crisper, cleaner, more modern look&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Modern huh?<\/p>\n<p>A Yahoo article about the State Department typography is <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/news?tmpl=story2&#038;cid=1517&#038;u=\/afp\/us_diplomacy_offbeat&#038;printer=1\">here<\/a>.
