{"id":1776,"date":"2005-09-16T18:21:08","date_gmt":"2005-09-16T10:21:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danwei.webfactional.com\/?p=1776"},"modified":"2005-09-16T18:21:08","modified_gmt":"2005-09-16T10:21:08","slug":"james_soong_wants_tapei_shangh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/laodanwei.org\/wp\/breaking-news\/james_soong_wants_tapei_shangh.php","title":{"rendered":"James Soong wants Tapei Shanghai direct flights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Xinhua:  <a href=\"http:\/\/news.xinhuanet.com\/english\/2005-09\/16\/content_3497148.htm\">Shanghai-Taipei direct flight proposed<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>BEIJING, Sept. 16 &#8212; Taiwan-based People First Party (PFP) Chairman James Soong proposed at a forum yesterday the initiation of direct flights between Shanghai and Taipei as a first step to promoting all-round direct flights between Taiwan and the mainland.<\/p>\n<p>Soong said the Shanghai-Taipei route is long called for, given the proximity of the two cities and the fact that the Shanghai region is the destination of more than 500,000 Taiwanese investors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We think a pilot Shanghai-Taipei direct flight link can be taken to promote direct flights across the Straits,&#8221; Soong said at the opening of the Cross-Straits Non-governmental Forum of Elites.
