It seems that the China Tibet Information Center, run by the Chinese government, are running amok with Google Ads:

They’re advertising on websites as diverse as that of the American newspaper New York Times and on chinaSMACK.com, a blog that translates Chinese Internet forum comments into English.

Shanghaiist reported in November 2008 that Tibet Information Center ads had started appearing on YouTube as well as their website.

“A window for touching Tibet” and “Your best choice of knowing Tibet” are just two of the slogans used in the ads with a backdrop of Tibetan temples, landscape, the Himalayas or similar.
